The Interior Design Show is a trade show that features local and global designers, artists and makers in a 3-day long event. Started in 2004, IDS Vancouver has grown to attract top talents and speakers. The show is a wonderful opportunity to see what's happening in the design industry and to connect with the Pacific Northwest community.

There are two categories of events associated with IDS Vancouver this year: the trade show at the Vancouver Convention Centre, and a series of related events around the city called ‘THE MIX’.

THE TRADE SHOW

  • Thursday Sept. 28th: Opening night party, 7PM – 11PM // Open to public // $35 // Buy tickets here
  • Friday Sept. 29th: Open to the interior design trade only, 9:30AM – 5:30PM // $15 // Register here
  • Saturday Sept. 30th: Open to public, 10AM – 6PM // $12 for the day, $18 for the weekend // Buy tickets here
  • Sunday Oct. 1st : Open to public, 10AM – 5PM // $12 for the day, $18 for the weekend // Buy tickets here

Pro tips:

  • Buy tickets online. They’re also available at the door, but it’ll cost you more $$$
  • Check out the show map before you go so you have an idea of what you’re getting into and where the brands you’re dying to see are located (to be released)
  • Take photos of business cards or company names so you don’t lose them and can easily sort through them when you get home

THE MIX

THE MIX offsites feature collaborations between local designers and visiting studios from abroad. In order to attend THE MIX events, you’ll have to purchase a wristband. The wristband is given to you at the first event you attend, and must be worn for all other MIX events.

Note that the wristband also gives you access to the trade show over the weekend, Frame Minds talks (featured speakers) at the trade show over the weekend, and after parties.

Wristband: $25 // Purchase here

Pro tips:

  • Check out the collaborators and speakers online before you go so you have an idea of what to expect and figure out what you hope to learn or see (I've added links to make this easier)
  • Say hi! Everyone in the room will already have a common interest so making conversation will be easy.
  • Take business cards or be prepared to share your Instagram handle
